Colin
has been an Airworthiness Surveyor within the UK CAA for over 7 years,
trained and competent to perform oversight of EASA & UK approved
organisations, covering production (Part-21G & BCAR), maintenance
(Part-145, Part-M(F) & BCAR) and continuing airworthiness (Part-M(G)).
Colin has also qualified as a team leader under the ICAO Safety
Assessment of Foreign Aircraft (SAFA) oversight programme.
Prior to his time in the CAA, Colin spent 9 years in the Royal Air
Force, training under the technical apprenticeship scheme followed by
work on the Jaguar and Tornado aircraft; 1 year working for British
Aerospace in Saudi Arabia as a Technician Trainer; and 13 years working
as a licensed engineer on large civil aircraft, within the UK, Australia
and Hong Kong.
He is currently attached to the Brunei DCA to provide advice regarding
airworthiness technical matters, as well as regulatory oversight of both
fixed and rotary aircraft operators and maintenance organisations.
Away from work Colin is a keen gardener, being qualified to the Royal
Horticultural Society Advanced Certificate in Horticultural level. He
and his fellow evening class students won a gold medal for their
back-to-back show garden at the 2010 RHS Tatton Flower Show.
