Colin Ong
is managing partner of the banking and commercial
law firm of Dr Colin Ong Legal Services, Brunei.
Colin is a Chartered Arbitrator and a practicing
barrister in England since 1991 and is a member at
the two leading barristers chambers of Essex Court
Chambers and 3 Verulam Buildings in London. He is
also often engaged as neutral national presiding
arbitrator in some of the largest commercial
disputes in Asia and Europe.
Colin is the President of the
Arbitration Association Brunei Darussalam; Vice
President of the London Court of International
Arbitration (Asia-Pacific Users' Committee); Vice
Chair, Arbitration Committee of the IBA and a Vice
President of APRAG.
Colin has acted as lead counsel in
many large court cases and arbitrations or has sat
as arbitrator in many cases involving banking &
investment disputes; building cases, commercial
disputes; joint venture disputes; oil and gas
projects; IT projects and general contractual
disputes.
Colin’s
qualifications includes LL.B(Sheffield); LL.M; Ph.D
in Law(London); FAMINZ(Arb);

FMIArb; FSIArb and
SEQ CHAPTER \h \r
1DiplCArb.
He has maintained his academic interests and has
been or is a visiting
professor of law at various universities including
Kings
College(London); National University of Singapore;
University of Malaya;
National University of Malaysia
and Queen Mary
College(London).
Colin has been
serving as Secretary for BBBF for several different
terms since 2003.
Colin’s interests
include travelling to new destinations; reading and
fine dining. Colin is the current Brunei deputy head
of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, an international
gastronomic society headquartered in Paris. He is
also the senior member of the Honourable Society of
the Inner Temple in Brunei Darussalam. |
