The Britain Brunei Business Forum held its
2011 Annual General Meeting at the British High
Commissioner’s Residence on Tuesday 21st March.
The Chairman Mr. Ambrose Nathan, General Manager of G4S, and
Secretary Dr. Colin Ong, Managing Partner of Ong Legal
Services, voluntarily stepped down after 3 years of
leadership to provide other BBBF Members the opportunity to
take the reins.
Happily nominated by fellow committee
members, Mr. Stuart Kemp, Executive Director of Asia Inc
Forum was elected as the new Chairman and Mr. Siva Sivarajah,
Chief Operating Officer of Laksamana College as the new
Secretary. Mr. Nabel Huwazan, Chief Technology and Services
Officer of HSBC continues in his role as Treasurer.
Mr. Ambrose Nathan and Dr. Colin Ong were
re-elected as members of the BBBF Committee. The AGM further
elected Ms. Annie Ng, Acting CEO of Standard Chartered Bank;
Mr. Colin Greenwoood, Regional Manager of the Civil Aviation
Authority International; Mr. Stephen Phillips, First
Secretary of the British High Commission; Mr. Charles Ting,
Manager of Sheng Yu Trading; and Mr. Delon Hon, General
Manager of James Hon Marketing & Management to complete the
2011 Committee.
The AGM reviewed 2010, thanked the outgoing
Chairman and Secretary for their exceptional leadership and
praised the outgoing Committee for a successful and eventful
year, which included the highlights of the British Oil & Gas
Firms Inward Trade Mission event in Kuala Belait; the Lord
Justice Laws Luncheon & Tea, with Royalty in attendance; the
dynamic talk on Managing Change in the business environment
by Professor David Hunt; and the inaugaral sporting
challenge with the FBBA – the “Battle of The Empire” Bowling
Contest. The new Committee look forward to achieving the
same level of success in 2011 and will continue to deliver
events and activities that will achieve the BBBF’s core goal
of facilitating trade and other opportunities between the
Bruneian and British communities.
The AGM concluded with a networking buffet
dinner for BBBF’s current and new members, as well as
friends interested in joining the BBBF.
