Kuala Belait -
The BBBF,
in conjunction with the British High
Commission,
hosted a High-Tea Networking Meeting for 13
British Oil & Gas companies visiting from Kuala Lumpur,
as part of a program for a high level UK
Trade & Investment delegation of British firms in the oil
and gas sector visiting Brunei. The Guest of Honour was Sheik
Rashid Salam, Head of Marketing and Investment Promotion at
the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB). Also in attendance for the
networking event was the British High Commissioner, His
Excellency Rob Fenn, Chairman of BBBF Mr Ambrose Nathan,
other members of the BEDB, managing directors or their
representatives from Mashhor, SKS Wood Group, Adinin
Works & Engineering, and other local oil & gas related
companies, many of which are based in the KB district.
As the majority of the
visiting British companies inward mission centered on oil &
gas, Mr Sheik Rashid's
presentation touched on the general scope and 'birds eye
view of the Bruneian economy', its current developments,
such as community houses and roads, as well as expressing
the future development needs for Brunei, such as airports,
to see where there are opportunities for business aside from oil & gas.
The meeting had two
primary objectives – to provide:
-
the British
firms a broader perspective of business and investment
opportunities in Brunei, and
-
our Bruneian
guests the opportunity for direct networking with the
British firms so that you can explore possible business
opportunities.
The 13 British Oil & Gas
companies were BMT Asia Pacific Ltd, Rolls-Royce Singapore,
Bristow Helicopters Ltd, ERM South East Asia, MMC AMEC, NES
Global Technical Consultants, Proserv Offshore Malaysia,
Scottish Development International, Subsea 7 Malaysia,
Johnson Matthey Catalysts, and Hull College Group UK.
